UN UNUSUAL TWIST OF FATE
An unusual twist of fate led young Corrado Fasolato to the stove.
A lover of competitions, very fond of food, he grew up in the hills around Vicenza
where he enjoyed organising the family barbeques.
During his military service he was placed in charge of the canteen, without ever
imagining that one day he would work with maestros such as Gualtiero Marchesi,
Ferran Adrià, André Jagger and Le Divellec, with whom he learnt to express his
own personality revealing a quite uncommon gastronomic brilliance.
In September 2004 Corrado accepted enthusiastically a new challenge: the running
of the Met Restaurant, a well-known restaurant inside the Metropole Hotel.
Corrado’s extraordinary talent with his great creativity - between tradition
and innovation - soon went beyond the venetian cookery: his cuisine, thrilling
and delicate, has earned him excellent rating in food guides and the prestigious
award of the Michelin Star when he had been running the Met Restaurant for just
9 months.
The 2009 is a really profitable year for the Met Restaurant, because in November
it is given two glamorous awards, the Tre Forchette (Top Score) by Gambero Rosso
Guide and above all the Second Michelin Star.
The Met Restaurant is the only restaurant in Venice that boasts the two stars. |
